A quiet white Christmas: styling ceramic trees
A ceramic Christmas tree does not need a forest of ornaments around it. One, or three of different heights, is enough: a mantel, a windowsill, the edge of a table that is already laid.
We keep two kinds. The LED white trees (13cm and 20.5cm) are ridged ceramic with a warm battery glow — meant to be left on in the evening. The scalloped trees are hand-finished, reactive glaze, an unglazed base. Each one is slightly different.
On the mantel
Put the large scalloped tree (26cm) off-centre, not in the middle of the shelf. A 20.5cm LED tree to one side gives a second height without matching. Leave space. Ivory or clay cloth underneath is better than a runner full of pinecones.
On a windowsill
The 13cm LED tree is the one for glass: small enough not to block the view, bright enough after dark. Pair it with the smallest scalloped tree if you want a still life rather than a display.
A set of three
The scalloped trees are sold as large, medium (19.5cm), and small. Together they read as one piece. Stagger them on a table that already has plates and glasses — not on a separate “Christmas table” in the hall.
